Old front door entry roof.
This is the front entry about seven years after we bought the house. Seven years after the previous owner had the house painted before he sold it to us. Painted with latex paint. Very thin latex paint. Thin, cheap, latex paint over oil and in some places bare wood. In many places it was easy to slide a scraper between the paint and the wood and peel off large sections of paint as there was no surface preparation of the bare wood.
The white paint showing is primer that we applied as the old thin latex peeled away from the house over the years.
The entry roofing is a thin sheet of mill finish aluminum installed over a poorly rebuilt roof structure. The original roofing was most likely tin sheet metal, and was neglected long enough that the roof decking and trim boards below rotted from roof leaks. The trim and roof decking were then replaced with cheap white pine.
